The rumors may be true...low-rise may...rise again...

Honestly? I like low-rise. I have a fairly boyish figure, even without HRT, and I don't like having tight or non-stretchy fabrics at my waist. That's ED-triggery and physically uncomfortable. My favorite pair of jeans right now are fairly low-slung straight-cut men's jeans, so I am definitely ready for the return of such things. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't daydream about the resurgence of the late-90s delia*s catalog...

I have to admit my first reaction was that I've seen more than enough teenage underwear peeking over the top of low-rise jeans so from that perspective, I'm hoping not. I'm pleased for you, however - it's always nice when the clothing you're comfortable in is in fashion, makes things much easier.

Yeah, it was a constant source of frustration for me as a teacher. I'm not about shaaming anybody's dress choices or telling people they have to look a certain way to be successful, but it was really annoying to have teenagers show up to class in their pajamas, with their drawers hanging out, etc., because school is a situation where there usually is a clear dress code and I have to go through the time-wasting process of writing you up and listening to you whine about it when you can't be bothered to follow a rule for eight hours. If you're a teen in the US under age 16, school is your job. That job has rules about your pants, and you might hate it, but let that drive you to find or create a life for yourself where you aren't bound by such things, not to be an obnoxious twerp and make your boxers or your thong the hill you choose to die on. Seriously.

i love love low-rise jeans. i don't usually buy new clothes, but i have noticed they're a lot harder to find at thrift stores lately and i've been blaming the surge in early-90s fashion popularity (like, high-waist skinny jeans weren't ugly enough the first time, now we have to live through them again?). plus i think high waist jeans emphasize my belly which i have a love/hate relationship with, and they're flat-out uncomfortable.

They are uncomfortable! Even when I had no belly, like, a concave belly, they were still tight and unforgiving. I can't imagine how they could not be. Ugh.

And yes! It is perhaps my favorite variety of dyke fashion, and I miss it and if we are going to resurrect so many other awful trends from the 80s-90s, we can at least revisit "moody low femme art major" :)

aesthetically, I am excited about this! Personally in terms of finding clothes I can wear I don't have such high hopes...

Yeah, I have to say I am mildly concerned about how well this will play out for those of us with non-runway human bodies, but I'm crossing my fingers...

Also how well it will play out for those of us who want to wear our jeans to workplaces that aren't fine with Holes Everywhere and whatnot, regardless of our physiques.
