questionoftheday asks: Have you ever met anybody important to you (a friend/significant other/etc.) online? How did you meet and are you still close with them? Have you ever met face-to-face?

My answer: No! I'm generally very shy on the internet and hardly ever even "speak" to anyone, let alone meet them in person. The closest experience I have to that is rabbit_paladin, whom I met once, almost 18 years ago, and have kept up with in the ether ever since. I'm trying to be more outgoing online at least, though, so maybe one day!

Wow! I've known a few people who met and married that way and it always seems like a Story, you know? Like something you'd hear characters tell their disbelieving kids. :D

Yup! We first connected on OKCupid a little over four years ago, fairly quickly exchanged private email addys, then started talking on the phone. First in-person date was mid-September. What with one thing and another, here we are, four years later, married! :-) Oh, and to add to the story, about that first in-person date, we were both a little confused about the exact place we were supposed to meet, and nearly missed actually getting together! But it worked out fine.

Aww! Actually my husband and I failed to meet up the first time we planned to hang out (I cancelled because I got heat stroke) and later found out we were both worried we'd never connect! We ended up going to the art museum the next week and were together almost every day pretty soon after that!
